Nothing about us, without us.

1 in every 5 Australians has a disability. That is 4.5 million people in Australia; more than 1 billion globally.

However, representation of people with disability, in business, media, leadership and entrepreneurship does not reflect this. In Australia, people with disability are nearly twice as likely to be unemployed as people without disability. Compared with other OECD countries, Australia has one of the lowest employment participation rates for people with disability. Hard to believe, right?

The motto "Nothing about us, without us" is part of a global movement to achieve full participation and equalisation of opportunities for, by and with people with disabilities. It focuses on the active involvement of people with disability in planning policies and strategies that affect their lives.

GingerSnap exists to put people with disability at the centre of their own stories, and create opportunities for creativity, community, increased independence and participation in meaningful employment.
